We were delighted to be able to gather with our wonderful volunteers for a lovey cream tea this afternoon to celebrate Volunteers Week with them.
This goes a small way to thanking them for all the hard work they do on a weekly basis which helps us be the supportive and inspiring educational environment that Friends Centre is.
It was fun to join in the great scone debate – do you do jam or cream first? Cornish or Devonshire method? Always an excuse to have another scone… ‘it tastes so different with the other method’!
For Volunteers Week, Our Principal, Helen Osborne, said: “We are so lucky here at Friends Centre to have so many dedicated volunteers to help us in all we try to do and to support our learners. Thank you one and all.”
It was great having tutors there too, who work hard alongside volunteers to support our learners in classrooms: We asked them to give us their views on how volunteers play such a vital role in our organisation:
“Helen is right! We couldn’t teach our classes so successfully without the tireless efforts of our loyal volunteers. A big thank-you to every one of you.”
Another of our tutors also said; “The volunteer who helps in my class is a great support to me as a tutor. Always friendly, helpful and practical. It invaluable having another pair of eyes and ears and being able to give support to one set of students knowing that another set are being supported at the same time.”
“Extremely grateful for all the help and support that all our volunteers give us. They truly are valuable members of our team.”
“It would be hard to run such a busy receptions smoothly without our volunteer input with is priceless. It makes a huge impact having two staff rather than one even if it’s just for a couple of hours here and there! Thank you and we hope it helps our volunteers to move forward into other admin work too.”
From all the team at Friends Centre, we’d like to thank our volunteers for helping in classrooms, in our back office and on reception. Your hard work is truly appreciated, not just through Volunteer’s Week, but every day that you give up your time to help us and we really couldn’t do what we do without your help.
