The Literacy Journey: free 1 to 1 adult literacy support

This literacy project is for adults with low literacy who are not yet able to join a literacy class or need additional literacy support in order to be able to access other learning.

 

literacy projectPersonalised learning plans are designed to meet each individual’s needs and goals. The 1 to 1 weekly sessions are delivered by trained volunteer tutors, 1 hour a week for up to 12 weeks with regular reviews of learner progress from the project staff.

Literacy support is provided to meet each learner’s needs around:

  • Speaking and listening

  • Reading and writing

  • Financial literacy and IT

  • Employability skills and progression

Through the Literacy Journey we build learners’ confidence and wellbeing to help them progress to:

  • other courses

  • improved day-to-day living

  • employment

  • other personal goals
