This course aims to:
Enable people to make their own pair of pyjama or casual trousers with or without pockets.

Who this course is for?
Suitable for both beginners and people who have had a bit of experience in using the sewing machine to make simple items.

What will I be able to do by the end of this course?
· Set up the sewing machine and make a pair of simple trousers
· Choose the correct pattern size to use.
· Lay out your pattern pieces and cut out your fabric economically
· Use the overlocker to neaten seams.
· Insert hip or in-seam pockets (optional)

What materials will I need for the course?
You will be following New Look pattern 6859 to create your trousers and we will provide you with this pattern.

You will need:
2 ½ metres of cotton or similar fabric. Please make sure your Fabric has been WASHED to avoid your trousers shrinking later.
Polycotton thread of a matching colour (choose Gutermann or Coates if possible)

Roughly how much will they cost?
Cotton or polycotton fabric can cost anything up from about £4 a metre. There are several fabric shops in Brighton such as…
Fabric Land, 76 Western Rd, East Sussex, Brighton BN1 2HA

Fabric Family, 14 Imperial Arcade, Brighton BN1 3EA

Ditto, 21 Kensington Gardens, Brighton BN1 4AL

Closs & Hamblin (C&H) 179 Western Rd, Brighton BN1 2BA

How will I know I am making progress?
You will start to feel more confident in using the sewing machine and then, you will have produced a pair of trousers!

Is there any extra study outside the class?
You will most probably complete your trousers within the day, but you may need to add a few finishing touches at home.
