Develop your own designs for a garment through research and experimentation with different media.  Learn how to make two garments from a choice of unlined skirt, simple trousers, shirt or top.  You will choose the material, learn how to measure and fit your garments, create samples of different sewing techniques and produce your own items of clothing.  We will use commercial patterns to create the garments, adjusting these to create your own design. You will be required to keep and submit a folder of sewing samples, a folio of design work, and sketchbooks of your design ideas and development from design through to the final garment. You will be expected to undertake at least 2 hours of study at home each week.  This course is suitable for those with some experience of using a sewing machine.
