examples of hand stitching with layered fabrics

During this hand sewing workshop in Brighton you will explore the freedom and playfulness of slow stitching.

Using simple hand stitches you will create texture and learn how to build up your design by incorporating basic appliqué.

Different techniques such as kantha and sashiko stitching will also be discussed as you develop your own work pouch.

You may not complete your pouch within the day as the class is designed to be a way of slowing down, to be contemplative about the way you engage with the materials and stitch making. Instructions will be provided for you to complete it at home.

Tools and materials will also be provided and you will be able to choose from a selection of yarns and fabrics to work with including vintage and natural plant-dyed cottons.
