Council to bring its adult education courses in-house

Friends Centre ReceptionFriends Centre is delighted to announce that we are working with Brighton & Hove City Council to move our services ‘in house’ as of 1st August 2020.

Through the government’s Education Skills and Funding Agency (ESFA), Brighton and Hove City Council has been providing funding to Friends Centre for several years, supporting a large number of our learners across the Centre’s curriculum provision.

Changes in direct national funding over the past few years have proved increasingly challenging and we are therefore very excited and relieved that our hard work and expertise has been recognised by our local council.  Our move ‘in house’ will ensure that the provision of high quality learning opportunities for all adults can continue in Brighton and Hove for years to come.

We want to reassure our learners about this change.  To you, from the outside, it won’t seem that much has changed.  The plans involve continuing to offer courses from our central Brighton locations at both Brighton Junction and Ivory Place.

We hope to provide further updates on our plans for the next academic year to learners and residents in the city over the coming weeks and months.

More details can be found on the council website.
