Welcome to Friends Centre, where we offer adult education in Brighton and the surrounding areas. Friends Centre is an independent adult education organisation and charity based in central Brighton, both of our centre’s are within a 10 minute walk from the Brighton train station and are well serviced by local bus routes. We offer daytime and evening adult education courses in Arts & Crafts, Creative Writing, English, ESOL, Health & Happiness, History, Information Technology, Modern Foreign Languages and Personal Professional Development. We serve over 1,100 learners each year at our two main learning centres in Brighton at Isetta Square and Ivory Place and in a range of adult education community venues in Brighton, including children’s centres and community hubs based on estates in the east of the city.

Friends Centre is the dedicated adult education centre in Brighton and Hove, providing quality learning programmes for adults to develop their knowledge, skills, understanding and creativity in a supportive environment.
Through our learning programmes we are committed to:
- Providing first steps (i) and life skills (ii), learning, advice and guidance to adults so that they may gain access to employment or progress to further and higher education.
- Promoting the wider social benefits of learning, including learning to improve health and wellbeing and to meet the personal and family goals of adults.
- Prioritising learning programmes for those adults who are disadvantaged, furthest away from learning or needing learning and language skills to integrate into employment and the community.
- Encouraging learning for active citizenship and stronger local communities.
