Raising funds for Zambia

Alison KroonAlison Kroon, lead tutor for ESOL and ALN at Friends Centre, is currently raising funds for an orphanage in Zambia.

Harvest Care Centre in Kitwe, Zanmbia, provides over 100 children with basic primary education and houses around 40 orphaned/street children who are dependent on the Care Centre for the roof over their heads, clothing, water, food and education. Alison will be visiting the centre in March to:

  • upgrade the Internet Cafe established in 2014 and equip facilities
  • install solar panels to provide a more stable and sustainable power supply
  • upgrade orphanage accommodation
  • replenish resources in the school

On Monday 7th March from 11am-3pm, the Junction Cafe at Brighton Junction will host a table-top sale of donated goods.

You can help by coming along and finding yourself a bargain, or by dropping in your unwanted books, DVDs, clothing, bric-a-brac etc. beforehand.

Alison has also organised a “guess the number of eggs in the jar” game. The winner will be drawn on Friday 4th March and all funds will go towards the project.
