Fashion tutor and a learnerDevelop your sewing skills further on this course. Learn how to make two garments from a choice of dress, lined skirt, unlined trousers or lined jacket. You will develop a design for your garments, select a commercial pattern and adapt this to your design, choose the fabric, learn how to measure and fit your garment, create samples of different sewing techniques and put your garments together. You will be required to keep and submit a folder of sewing samples, folio of design work, and sketchbooks of your design ideas and the development from design through to the final garment. You will be expected to undertake at least 2 hours of study at home each week. This course is suitable for those who have already completed a Level 1 in Fashion and Dressmaking or those with experience of using commercial patterns. You should be confident at using a sewing machine and have made some simple garments including those with sleeves.
