Creative Writing

English Poetry: Mid-Twentieth Century Poetry
Tutor: Laurence Lerner

Study and enjoy some of the finest poetry of the mid-twentieth century - Elliot, Auden, Macneice and Dylan Thomas as well as American poets like Wallace Stevens and John Crowe Ransom. We will always begin by listening to the poem, then place it in its context - literary, personal and political.

Writing Short Stories and Novels

Writing The Inner Life

So often the inner life goes uncharted while the exterior life gets all the press. Yet there are notable exceptions. This course involves creative writing and shared readings of authors such as Jung, Eva Hoffman and Paul Auster, to explore the ways an interior journey can be given form and made communicable, even occasionally inspirational, to others.

Advancing Your Skills As A Writer

First Steps in Fiction

Have you always wanted to write but don't know where to start? From inspiration to publication, this relaxed and supportive course will guide you through all the main steps towards becoming a writer. Developing characters and effective dialogue and a whole lot more using simple exercises and assignments to get you writing.
